The Tokyo Marathon Foundation held a board meeting today on September 19, 2023. At the meeting, Tadaaki Hayano (formerly Race Director / CSO), was selected as the Chairman/CEO, and Hideyuki Sasaki was selected as the Vice-Chairman. (reappointed)
He will concurrently serve as the Race Director for the Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon 2023 (scheduled for October 15, 2023) and the Tokyo Marathon 2024 (scheduled for March 3, 2024). Additionally, Mr. Yasuhiro Oshima, Professor at the College of Sports Sciences, Nihon University will assume the role of Assistant Race Director.

I am pleased to continue my involvement with the Tokyo Marathon Foundation as the new Chairman/CEO, following my role as the Race Director. At the same time, I feel a deep sense of responsibility for this significant position.
The Tokyo Marathon has become a major running event where “The Day We Unite.”, thanks to the runners, volunteers, and supporters. We have always strived for it to be a "stage for every single participant" and aimed to make the "global standard" elite race.
In 2027, we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the milestone event. Towards that, we intend to build on three pillars: "the world's safest and most secure event," "the world's most exciting event," and "the world's warmest event." In the world's greatest city, Tokyo, we aspire to produce the world's greatest Tokyo Marathon. Furthermore, through various initiatives of the Tokyo Marathon Foundation, we will continue to work diligently with the motto “Change the future, through the joy of running.”
