A message from the President / CEO, as we welcome the Foundation’s 10th anniversary

The June 30 of this year was our 10th anniversary since the establishment of the Tokyo Marathon Foundation.

The entire staff of the Foundation has dedicated to the growth of the organization, one of which contributed to the progress of the Tokyo Marathon to become one of the six most renowned marathons in the world. Together with, we have established official running club “ONE TOKYO”, official volunteer club “VOLUNTAINER”, and various charity programs through the Tokyo Marathon as our effort to spread the joy of running in various forms.

Additionally, with the 10th anniversary, we are implementing “Action Plan beyond 2020”, focusing on the following four businesses, “Running Event”, “Running Life”, “Wellness” and “Social Contribution”, to counteract the low birthrate and aging population while fulfilling the needs of the society through the joy of running.

Running is a very simple and yet powerful sport and through it, our Foundation hopes to strengthen the bond amongst the people while delivering a lively society based on our mission to “change the future, through the joy of running”.

Due to amid virus crisis throughout the world, many running events are cancelled, and it is a very difficult time to fulfill the “joy of running” together with other runners. Nevertheless, despite the current situation, running can bring much positivity to an individual by maintaining a good health and or by engaging in a new form of running through a running app.

I conceivably believe that running is a fundamental strength of a human being, and reciprocally our Foundation truly believes that “joy of running” can bring change even within the most difficult situation. With your support we can move forward, and we thank you for your continuous support for the Tokyo Marathon Foundation.
